Voice-Only Mode

Voice-only mode lets guests have a full AI conversation using audio only — without a video avatar on screen.

In voice-only mode:

  • Guests hear the AI speaking and can respond by voice
  • There is no video avatar displayed
  • Chat, slides, and transcription all work normally
  • The conversation experience is otherwise identical to a standard meeting

Voice-only mode activates in two situations:

If the video avatar can’t start (due to high demand or a temporary issue), the meeting automatically continues in voice-only mode. Guests won’t notice a disruption — the conversation simply begins with audio.

For certain meeting types like slide-focused demos, the system may choose voice-only mode when a video avatar isn’t needed.

During a voice-only meeting, guests see:

  • A microphone control to mute/unmute
  • The chat panel for sending text messages
  • Slides (if the host has configured a presentation)
  • A real-time transcript of the conversation
  • A meeting timer

The guest speaks naturally and hears the AI respond, just like a phone call with a visual interface.

Slides work fully in voice-only mode. The AI can:

  • Advance to the next slide
  • Go back to a previous slide
  • Jump to a specific slide

The AI narrates slides with extra verbal detail since there’s no avatar providing visual cues.

Voice-only meetings use approximately 75% fewer resources than video avatar meetings, which may be reflected in your usage costs.

Voice-only meetings appear in your dashboard and meeting history just like any other meeting. The meeting detail page shows the meeting mode so you can see which meetings used voice-only.
